(From the perspective of a 56 y/o F. ) I love the feeling of a heavy weight on top of me when I sleep. The weighted blanket provides a feeling comfort, coziness & security It helps me fall asleep quickly and sleep longer . Cons: For me , or people with arthritis, tendinitis, shoulder problems or weak hand grasps, the 20 lb. weight may be too heavy. During the night I found the weight on my shoulder increased the severe pain I do often get at night in that shoulder. I also found that if I get out of bed during the night and then try to get back in, or if the blank it slips off , it’s very hard for me to pull the blanket up over myself with one hand. I have to get up & stand up to re-position the blanket. There’s nothing wrong with this product, but I think I may return it because the weight is just too heavy. I will try one with less weight.All in all , the weighted blanket is a pretty awesome concept!If you are curious how it feels. To get an idea what it feels like, have you ever been at the dentist or under an x-ray machine and had them put the lead shield over you? I’ve spent many hours in a dental chair . I discovered that I liked the pressure of the heavy leaf shield! It helped me relax, and stay still during long procedures . This is what prompted me to look into the concept of weighted blankets. I have chronic pain that makes it difficult to sleep. I like the feeling of heavy blankets on me yet I get too hot, so this is a great alternative . It really helps me sleep better ! I imagine it Would be helpful to people with anxiety and or possibly some children and possibly some children in the autistic spectrum.The weight of this blanket is great. I got it to help me pay flat while recovering from surgery, since I'm a tosser. This helped me tremendously!Sometimes it got a little warm, but was definitely cooler than the other weighted blanket I've tried. In the winter it definitely stays cooler, so I'm sure if you kept your house really cool in the summer this would help reflect the cooling abilities.Even have used this on my tossy turny dog in bed. She's a big girl, so no worries on her being trapped, but she sleeps and lays still using this, which in turn also helps me sleep if I'm not using it myself.The size is great in which if I want extra weight I can fold it in half and lay it over myself, getting the full effect.The weight is perfect for me, make sure you select 10% of your body weight in a weighted blanket. For me having Aspergers/Autism this is a form of therapy, but I imagine any neurotypical could benefit from its use. I recomend a duvet cover that is thin and cheap, so it is breathable, I use without a sheet and just wash the cover, as I live in LA and it gets hot sometimes even at night. Weighted blankets help me feel more restful and decompressed, thisnone is affordable but high quality. The sewn pockets of glass beads are solidly sewn, the beads are small enough that you dont feel texture even when sitting on it (it's almost fine as sand).I have a hard time sleeping and this weighted blanked helps me fall asleep faster. I used to have to pile up blankets to create weight which I had been doing for over 40 years. Being married, my wife does not like to have so many blankets on our bed. This weighted blanked allows me to have the weight on my side of the bed and it does not fall off at night. The ideal weight I hear for a weighted blanket is 10% of your weight. Also, expect this to be very warm at night. Great value I will most likely purchase another for my son who has anxiety and also difficulty sleeping. As for durability, I have only had for a week, but no signs of wear or threading or stitching coming undone.This weighted blanket is like getting a big hug! How much better could it get? One night, both my sons were laying in bed with me with the weighted blanket watching a movie during my recovery. Within minutes, they both were calmed and the little guy fell asleep.
